Tynewater Canine

Following over 25 years of teaching dog training as a hobby, Gwen set up Tynewater Canine on leaving a 35 year career in a large financial organisation where she was a Learning and Development Professional.  Already an Instructor with Tynewater Dog Training, Gwen wanted Tynewater Canine to complement the general dog training provided by Tynewater Dog Training and implemented a range of classes focusing on the different activities you can do with your dog.  Gwen’s passion has always been canine scentwork and that’s where she puts a lot of her energy!

You can relax in the safe knowledge that Gwen is a Credited Training Partner with Karen Pryor Academy, a Registered Animal Trainer with the Animal Behaviour & Training Council, Certified Trainer with INTODogs and ICAN and a Qualified Trainer with IMDT.  Gwen is an approved City & Guilds Scent Instructor and Handler and is an Ambassador for the UK College of Scent Dogs.  She is also a Scentwork UK and Mantrailing UK Instructor.

She also has a PG (Cert) in Coaching alongside a Masters equivalent in People Development which means she is fully qualified to coach you to reach your goals.

Gwen’s current dogs are all spaniels but she has shared her life with a number of breeds and cross-breeds over the years. She has trained her own dogs for Scentwork, Truffle Hunting, Mantrailing, Working Trials and Lowland Search and Rescue.

Awesome Paws

Denise is the founder and head trainer at Awesome Paws Academy. She started her journey as a dog trainer after one of her dogs suffered a traumatic experience.

As a psychiatric nurse, Denise recognised that her dog needed help, so she made a plan, reached out to trainers and behaviourists all over the world and studied everything she could get her hands on.

Like the saying goes “it takes a village to raise a child”, it also takes a team to help a dog with behavioural issues. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication, even for professionals. Denise found the support she needed and now she has dedicated her life to educate and help others.

Denise Shirreffs is a Reactive Canine Specialist and has a particular interest in Scentwork and is a Scentwork UK trainer and judge. Denise also specialises in Mantrailing and gundog training and was successfully placed at Crufts in 2014.
